Hello, have you heard of Blue Billywig? Like Vixy, it’s a Dutch Online Video Platform. Think they might be worth a mention!

Thanks Matteo for featuring VIXY in your post, we appreciate that!

I’d like to add some useful information for the readers of your post: there are a couple of ways to start your own video streaming service and sell your video content as SVOD (subscription based) or TVOD (transactional based – usually for renting out videos or films), this off course depends on your budget and requirements..

You usually need a backend AND a frontend, most companies listed in this post offer only a backend or front-end. Other companies offer both services as an all-in-one solution.

The backend is the infrastructure which is not visible to the end-user, such as the hosting infrastructure, a global CDN for streaming your videos, a customizable video player, security and analytics. Important is to decide where you want to host your videos (Europe, US, etc). Now: if you have your own in-house development team and you want to built something custom, you usually only need a backend platform and a video player – which can be integrated with your own front-end (CMS) and paywall. The benefits are less costs of the platform and you can go completely custom, the downside is off course that you need your own dev team. Disclaimer: VIXY can provide a backend-only service.

There are also companies that offer both front-end and back-end together in an all-in-one platform and are already integrated with a payment gateway, like Uscreen, Vimeo VHS or VIXY (we have an all-in-one solution as well). The benefits are a faster time-to-market and that you can focus on content and marketing instead of technical issues. The downside: ultimately when you grow you want your own custom solution. We at VIXY always see a shift once streaming companies get past a certain amount of users that they need more and more customization and out-grow a standard streaming platform. However if you’re just starting and don’t have your own in-house development team: this is the best option to go live quickly.

    Hope this helps!
