Save Time Preparing Your Presentation by Sketching Your Slides – Part 16

Written by Matteo Cassese

If you’ve been following this module closely, you will have all your slides already in front of you, laid out in sticky notes. You should have one sticky note for the title, one for the core transformation, and a lot of single sticky notes for all the slides that form your presentation.

Now, take those sheets of paper and pen and pencil that we saved at the beginning, and you can start visually sketching your slides.

You can create an easy quick preview of what your slide will look like in the end. If any design is not really convincing, in this phase, it takes no effort to trash it. And if you fall in love with something and you want to carry it over to the next phase, you can always scan it and keep it inside your presentation.

Am I asking you to spend even more time on a new task? Well, actually a little more time spent with pen and paper means a lot less time spent in front of the computer.

At this point, do a new rehearsal. You have your sticky notes as a guide and you have your sketches as visual aids, and see how your presentation flows.

Summary:

  • Spend a little bit more time with the flexibility of pen and paper and sketch your slides

Who is Matteo Cassese?

Hi! I’m a marketing consultant and an enthusiastic entrepreneur with experience working for multinational companies (Warner Bros.), teaching at a university (Link Campus University), and consulting for entertainment companies (Netflix). I’m a scholar of storytelling and have dug deep into screenwriting techniques, mythology, and trans-media narratives. This passion is translated in the simple structure template that you get in all my courses. In my free time I enjoy driving cars (fast).
