For the Best Presentation Design Ideas, Go Back to Pen and Paper – Part 11

Written by Matteo Cassese

Welcome to the design module. In this module, I want to talk to you about a presentation design process, and this process has a really important first step, and requires you to take your laptop and turn it off, because your best ideas never came from your computer.

Your computer may be full of tools that allow you to create presentations, to design them, but they don’t allow you to strategize your presentations. And let’s face it, we’re not always productive when at the computer.

Another great side effect of switching off the computer is that you get to stand up, and by standing up you explore your space in three dimension and your heart beat gets going.

All you need is the right tools to become more creative. Let’s look at those tools: First of all, and this one you have it in your office for sure, it’s pen and paper, as simple as that.

Secondly, you need sticky notes and lots of them and if possible also different colors.

Third, a whiteboard, but that’s not really necessary as long as you have pen and paper and sticky notes, you’re fine, but a whiteboard can be a great tool to help you strategize your presentation.

Summary:

  • Switch off that device because it doesn’t contain your ideas
  • Get the right tools that will make you more creative

Who is Matteo Cassese?

Hi! I’m a marketing consultant and an enthusiastic entrepreneur with experience working for multinational companies (Warner Bros.), teaching at a university (Link Campus University), and consulting for entertainment companies (Netflix). I’m a scholar of storytelling and have dug deep into screenwriting techniques, mythology, and trans-media narratives. This passion is translated in the simple structure template that you get in all my courses. In my free time I enjoy driving cars (fast).
